About

We’ll review your site’s speed, UX, SEO, and compliance for free — no strings attached.

Why we chose WordPress and WooCommerce.

We’ve been building on WordPress for over 15 years. It started with business websites, then WooCommerce stores, and over time the ecommerce work became the focus. We know this platform deeply — not because we picked it from a lineup, but because we grew up building on it.

A few years ago, as we started working seriously with AI, something became clear. The businesses that will benefit most from AI are the ones that own their customer data. Not summaries in a third-party dashboard. The actual behavioural data — what customers search for, what they add to cart, what they abandon, what they buy, and how often they come back.

That insight made the decision to specialise straightforward. We stopped taking general web projects and went all-in on WooCommerce — the only major ecommerce platform where the business owner controls their data completely.

On hosted platforms like Shopify, your customer data lives in their system. You can export some of it, but you don’t control how it’s collected, where it’s stored, or what you can do with it. You can’t feed it into your own AI models or build custom analytics around individual customer behaviour. The platform decides what you see and what stays behind their dashboard.

WooCommerce is different. Every piece of behavioural data belongs to you. We build stores with first-party tracking that captures the full customer journey — page views, product searches, cart activity, abandoned checkouts, purchase history, and repeat visit patterns — all within your own system, without relying on third-party analytics tools that share your data with someone else’s ad network.

The Privacy Act 2025 reforms now require businesses to handle customer data responsibly, which makes this approach even more important. When you control the data, you control the compliance. And when you own the data, you can use it — to personalise, to predict, and to compete in ways that businesses renting access to someone else’s dashboard simply can’t.

Your customers. Your data. Your edge.

Nicholas has been building websites and e-commerce stores for over 15 years, working with Australian businesses across retail, food and beverage, fashion, wholesale, healthcare, and trades. He’s written custom WooCommerce plugins, integrated stores with Xero, Shippit, Afterpay, Square, and Lightspeed, and managed hosting infrastructure for stores processing thousands of transactions per month.

Before specialising in WooCommerce, Nicholas worked across the full digital stack — design, development, SEO, paid media, and content strategy. That breadth means he understands how a store fits into the wider business, not just how the code works.

Every Duelling Pixels project is led by Nicholas directly. When you work with us, you’re working with the person who makes the technical decisions, writes the code, and takes responsibility for the outcome. There’s no account manager buffer between you and the work.

How We Work

Our approach to building stores.

We work on a small number of projects at a time. That’s deliberate. WooCommerce stores that handle real money need careful attention to integrations, performance, and compliance. We’d rather build fewer stores properly than rush through a full pipeline.

Discovery first.

We learn how your business operates before we design anything. That means understanding your accounting software, your shipping workflows, your POS system, your product data, and your team’s technical confidence. The build is shaped by your operations, not by a template.

Transparent pricing.

Our three build tiers have published pricing and clear deliverables. You know what you’re getting and what it costs before we start. No scope creep, no surprise invoices, no “Phase 2” upsells for integrations that should have been included from the start.

Quality over speed.

Every store is built to WordPress VIP coding standards, tested on a staging environment, and checked for Privacy Act compliance and accessibility before it goes live. We don’t launch until checkout works, speed targets are met, and the store is ready to take real orders.

Ongoing partnership.

Most of our clients move onto our managed hosting platform after launch. That means dedicated Australian servers, enterprise security, automated plugin testing, and hands-on support — with your customer data in one managed system under your control. The relationship doesn’t end at launch, because a store’s real work starts after it goes live.

What we do and what we don’t.

What we do

  • Custom WooCommerce design and development, from $10,000 to $50,000+
  • WooCommerce extensions and custom plugin development
  • AI-powered features for WooCommerce stores, including search, support, and merchandising
  • WooCommerce-specific SEO, focused on organic revenue growth
  • Managed WooCommerce hosting on dedicated Australian servers
  • Integrations with Xero, Shippit, Afterpay, Square, Lightspeed, and ERP systems

What we don’t do

  • Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, or any other platform
  • Generic “digital marketing” packages without a clear connection to store revenue
  • Cheap template installs dressed up as custom work
  • Projects where we can’t meet our own quality standards

We’d rather refer you to someone better suited than take on a project we can’t do properly. If your needs fall outside WooCommerce, we’ll say so upfront and point you in the right direction.

See what a WooCommerce specialist sees.

Every month your customer data stays scattered across platforms you don’t control is another month of purchase history, behavioural insights, and customer intelligence you can’t use. The businesses that are getting ahead aren’t waiting for AI to get easier — they’re getting their data in order now.

Our free Site Health Check covers speed, UX, SEO, and Privacy Act readiness for your existing WooCommerce store. It takes 15 minutes to request and you’ll receive a branded PDF report with clear, prioritised recommendations — whether you build with us or not.
