WordPress development for the functions your business needs

WordPress development for the functions your business needs

Most WordPress problems are not about the whole website. A form that should create a record in your CRM and does not. A staff member who spends an hour a week on a table that should update itself. Development work gives each of those a defined job and a tested result.

Describe what should happen

Start with one example of the action and the result you want. A form submission that should create a contact in your customer-management system also needs to tell someone when a field is missing or the connection fails, so we write down both the normal case and the failure case before building.

The current theme, plugins and connected tools decide what can be changed safely, and sometimes a maintained plugin already covers the requirement.

We look at those options before writing custom code, then set out the behaviour and the checks the project includes.

Example: a form to your customer system

The normal case

The submission creates a contact in your customer-management system

The failure case

Someone is told when a field is missing or the connection fails

Both written down before building

Work that can be developed

  • Editable blocks, patterns and theme functions.
  • Content types and staff editing fields.
  • Forms, bookings and selected account workflows.
  • Connections to supported business systems.
  • Specific loading or functionality problems.
  • Custom plugins for a requirement nothing else meets.

A connection to an external system depends on what that system allows and the access you can give us, so we confirm both before promising how it will behave.

Test the function in context

We test ordinary use, missing information and the failures that are likely in practice, in an environment where nothing reaches your customers until you approve it. The handover explains how it works, which versions it supports and who maintains it.

Tested before you approve

Ordinary use

Missing information

The failures likely in practice

Nothing reaches your customers until you approve it.

What this does not include

External accounts, licences and ongoing support are named with their owners in the private proposal. Compatibility with every future plugin or theme cannot be promised, so the project states the versions it supports.

Questions about development

Can a site built by someone else be changed?

Usually. We inspect the code, access and software versions first to see how much preparation a safe change needs.

Does one function mean a full website rebuild?

No. A focused project is often the right size, and the inspection shows whether anything wider has to change.

Is a custom plugin the right approach?

It depends on the requirement and what already exists. Where no maintained plugin covers it, we specify the custom code inside the development project, with acceptance examples and a named maintainer.
