Hosting and site management
Someone responsible for keeping your website running
Updates, backups and working forms need an owner. Hosting and site management puts those responsibilities with one named person, so your WordPress or WooCommerce website keeps doing its job.
Businesses we have worked with
Know what happens when the site needs attention
A failed form means enquiries stop arriving, and nobody notices until a customer rings to ask why you never replied. A checkout fault means orders stop. Monitoring and regular checks mean the person responsible finds out early.
We look at the website before we take it on. That tells us its condition, who holds the access and what needs repairing first. You can take hosting and site management without a build from us.
Example alert
The enquiry form stopped sending
- Found by the check
- Investigated by the person responsible
- Fixed and tested again
Found before a customer rings to ask why you never replied.
The parts of a care arrangement
Hosting
Where the site runs and who the supplier is decide how issues get escalated, so your arrangement sets out the hosting environment, the parts we manage and any transfer work needed to get the site there.
Backups and recovery
You should know how often backups run, where they are stored and how long they are kept. We test the restore process, because a backup proves nothing until someone has restored it, and the agreement names who can authorise a recovery.
Software updates
WordPress, themes and plugins need updating on a schedule, and after each relevant update we check the forms and, on a store, the purchase journey, since an update that quietly breaks the checkout costs more than it saves.
Monitoring and security notices
Availability alerts and software notices tell us what needs a look. We record what we found, what we did and what was decided, within your cover. The record means nobody has to remember what happened to the site or why.
Reachable by search engines and AI crawlers
Hosting controls the robots file, the firewall and the CDN rules, which decide whether a search engine or an AI crawler can read the site. A rule added to stop a bad bot can block them too, so we check that access and record it.

You know how to reach us, when we work, how quickly we respond and how we report to you, because the agreement states all four. It also names the licences, outside suppliers and the route for an issue that belongs with another provider, such as your domain registrar.
Monitoring cannot prevent every outage or security incident. What it gives you is someone who investigates, has the access to act and knows how the next step gets approved.
Your agreement states
How to reach us
When we work
How quickly we respond
How we report to you
The licences, outside suppliers and the route for issues that belong with another provider
Taking over the care
You get a site that has been checked before we take responsibility for it, and a work record you can read from then on. The first review covers the software, access, important functions and current hosting, and where the site needs preparing or moving, we do that work first and check it before responsibility changes hands.
We perform the included maintenance. You keep up the licences you own, give us the access we need and tell us about business changes that affect the site. Website changes go through the request and testing process we set up together.
What this does not include
Repairing an unhealthy site, dealing with an existing security incident, major upgrades, development and content editing are quoted separately. Domain management, mailboxes, transactional email and after-hours cover are included only where the agreement names them. Ongoing care never means unlimited changes.
Questions about hosting and care
Can a website built elsewhere be managed?
Yes, once we have reviewed its condition, access and dependencies and know what preparation it needs.
Where are the website and backups stored?
We confirm the hosting and backup locations for your engagement and record them in the proposal.
Are content changes included?
Only where the agreement includes an editing allowance or a development task, because routine care covers keeping the site running, not changing it.
Who handles a fault or security incident?
The agreement names the owner, the escalation route and the support cover. An incident that exists before we take over, or emergency work outside support hours, may need a separate scope.
What if we change providers?
We set out account ownership, exports, access and handover at the start, so leaving is as orderly as arriving.
